SoEx Offsite News

SoEx Offsite

Over the course of the next year, Southern Exposure will move beyond the realm of the gallery to present new forms of work in public space through a new program series called SoEx Offsite. Our new space will serve as a space to locate these projects and for artists to experiment with a new kind of art venue. SoEx Offsite is an opportunity for artists to develop and create new public works in San Francisco that investigates diverse strategies for exploring and mapping public space. SoEx’s Artists in Education Program will explore these themes through after-school and summer programs and a resulting series of public projects. Through SoEx Offsite, Southern Exposure will encourage artists and youth to work experimentally in non-traditional locations and formats, enable artists to develop new works that could not otherwise be realized, and generate a critical dialog about emerging creative practices. Southern Exposure will announce the artists who will be making new works through this program in July 2006.
